X-ELIO building 60-MW Battery Storage to pair with Texas
Spanish-based renewable energy developer X-ELIO has announced the launch of its first utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the U.S. The BESS project has a total capacity of 60 MW and will be co-located with Liberty 1 Solar, a 72-MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant that X-ELIO is building near Houston, Texas.
BASF opens cathode production and recycling plant in Germany
The facility, located in Schwarzheide, Germany, is the first production facility for lithium-ion cathode active materials in Germany and the first fully automated large-scale one in Europe, BASF said. A spokesperson told Energy-Storage.news that the production facility is now undergoing commissioning, while the recycling operations will come later.
